Well we just got back from Florida. We took Cooper to Disney and it was so fun. It was the first time Mitch and I went as well and we all had a blast. It was a bit cool in terms of weather but still perfect for walking the parks. I plan to dedicate at least a couple of upcoming posts to my Disney tips and tricks but this post is just to discuss my goals for 2019.
As you know, I love New Years and setting new goals. I am actually pretty good at attaining my goals, especially when they are written out so here are my goals for 2019. I have broken them down into different categories:
Travel:
- Take Cooper to Diggerland in NJ this summer and at least one small trip to either a cottage, MTL, or the Adirondack mountains - we are keeping our trips small this year because we have big travel goals for the 2020 and 2021 and we have traveled on 4-6 week vacations the past 2 years. I am excited to explore a few places closer to home this year while we save up for some big world and luxury trips in 2020.
- Save funds towards our Caribbean Disney cruise planned for Feb/Mar 2020 and towards our Australia trip later that year. Even though these trips aren't planned for 2019, we always have our trips paid in full before we go so a large portion of these funds will have to be saved for in 2019.
Career/Financial:
- grow my blog and my social media - I still have my day job but at this point in my life I am just trying to follow my passions which involve reaching out and connecting with other moms and those who are interested in family travel, kids activities, healthy cooking, and other lifestyle stuff. I really plan to blog a lot more and share and connect on my Instagram this year. I feel the best when I am at home with my family, exploring with and teaching my son and just being a great wife and mom. It might seem like "traditional" wife/mom mode but I love it! I am not sure if I can actually make a career out of it and that's OK but I want to follow my passion more this year!
- Save more of our extra money and put it towards debt. I am really good at sticking to a budget and staying out of debt (aside from our house and and now our new car) but I tend to reward myself if we have any extra leftover money with an extra meal out or something instead of using it towards the house. This year I want to make at least one extra mortgage payment and 1 extra car payment to pay those off sooner.
Health:
- Lose the 5-6 lbs I gained from quitting the gym last year. I really can't get motivated to exercise outside of a gym environment so I really need to join again. I have a membership at the city of Ottawa but it has no childcare so I may need to switch gyms. I am making my fitness a priority again and committing to working out 3-4 times per week.
- Drink smoothies or celery juice everyday. It is great for weight loss and just improving inflammation in the body.
- Being consistent with my essential oils. I have really seen so much improvement by adding turmeric and copaiba oil to my daily oil routine so I want to make sure I take that daily.
Lifestyle:
- Re-establish old friendships - there are a lot of people that we slowly lost touch with especially after having Cooper that were great friends and we miss the fun times we had with them over the years.
- Reduce waste - reduce plastic consumption, reduce food waste.
I hope you guys reach all your goals in 2019 and lets make it a great year!
